Two local Boy Scouts have helped make hikers, birders, hunters and others more aware of procedures and policies at Bake Oven Knob on State Game Lands 217 along the Appalachian Trail.
Josh Harman (bottom photo with Pennsylvania Game Commision WCO Kevin Halbfoerster), a senior at Parkland High School, and Colton Arndt (top right photo), a senior at Northampton High School, recently completed signboard building and placement as part of their Eagle Scout project.
The new signage lists important information for people taking part in hunting, hiking and other outdoors related activities.
The two Boy Scouts worked with Wildlife Conservation Officer Kevin Halbfoerster to erect signboards in the Baer Rocks and Bake Oven parking lot access points. Two other signboards were erected along the top of the mountain where Route 309 crosses the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Halbfoerster complimented the two young men for doing a professional job with the signage.
Thanks!
