Gather the family and pets and circle the weekend of Aug. 27-28 on your calendar to celebrate and promote hunting, fishing and the great outdoors.
The 11th annual Lehigh Valley Hunting & Fishing Extravaganza, sponsored by Rothrock Motors, Horwith Freightliner, Cabela’s, Hatfield Quality Meats and Stihl, will take place 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28 at the Kempton Fairgrounds in Kempton, Pa.
The family-friendly, kid-friendly outdoors show has something for everyone, even the family dog with the Top Dog hunting challenge.
This is a show where
everyone, including kids and adults, can shoot a bow for the first time, cast a fishing line, shoot at a clay target, all with expert supervision. From a 50-target sporting clays course to on-site chainsaw sculpting, this show has it all.
The hands-on extravaganza allows everyone from expert to beginner to take part in a variety of entertaining shoots, and comes less than a month ahead of the local archery deer season opener, so it’s a perfect to time to hone in your bow skills with the variety of shoots, including the annual Weaknecht’s Bow Fair, a 50-target 3-D shoot set in real forest conditions.
There’s an amateur outdoors photography contest, Vietnam –era reenactment encampment, the highly popular Saturday hunting and fishing flea market and much much more. Representatives from local Trout Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, Ruffed Grouse and other conservation groups, including the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission will also be on hand.
Some of the other participating groups include the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs; Delaware River Shad Fishermen’s Association; District 10 of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association; Federated Sportsmen’s Clubs of Berks County; Lehigh County Fish & Game Protective Association; United Bow hunters of PA; Daisy BB Guns; Oley Valley Fish & Game; L.V.
